MentorConnect is the World Bank Group's "self-service" mentoring program for staff

MentorConnect enables staff to search for an identify potential mentors from within the MentorConnect pool (currently ~175 mentors from across the WBG).  Based on information in the mentoring profile completed by all participants, the system will also provide mentor recommendations.  Mentees then send a mentoring request, and, if accepted, a six month mentoring connection begins.  An automated connection plan helps pairs cultivate, define, and successfully manage their relationship over the six months with automated messages, prompts, guidance, and reminders.

MentorConnect is open to all WBG staff on OPEN/TERM contracts AND those on ETT/ETC contracts. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate those on STT/STC contracts at this timeWhile all staff are welcomed to participate, preference will be given to those not already covered by an existing mentoring opportunity through their Department, VPU, GP, etc.

Join MentorConnect to start developing relationships with others in the organization who can help you learn and grow. Take the first step in furthering your own development by joining MentorConnect today

MENTORs

Being a mentor is not about having all the right answers; it is about asking the right questions.

Mentors inspire, encourage, and support mentees through thoughtful conversation and consultation.

Being a mentor can help to grow managerial competencies and leadership skills.  It can also help to Improve listening and communication skills.

Mentors gain fresh perspective and insights from their mentees mentoring partner.  In many cases, Mentors report learning just as much if not more their mentees!

MENTEEs

Mentees are the drivers of the mentoring relationship.  They initiate the relationship and set the initial direction.

With the guidance of a mentor, mentees can gain new knowledge and skill sets that can broaden career opportunities, grow networks, and much more.  They can also gain critical insights into organizational culture and "how things get done".

Being a mentee means being part of a partnership of reciprocal learning .  Remember, mentors learn just as much, if not more, during the relationship.
